Reinforce learning through museum-based play: Plan your next field trip

Calling all teachers, homeschool families, and community groups: Hands-on House is a nonprofit children’s museum offering immersive indoor and outdoor exhibits for kids ages 2-8 that extend curriculum and address learning standards such as:

  • Social and emotional development
  • The building blocks of STEM habits of mind
  • Environmental literacy and sustainability
  • Inquiry and problem-solving
  • Approaches to learning through play

Admission rates for group visits:

Group visits have discounted admission rates and are for groups of 15-75 people (including adults and kids). 

Rates: $7.50 per person weekdays and $9.00 per person weekends (children and adults)

A ratio of 1:4 adults to children is required for all group visits

 

Visit details:

Group visits have an allotted time of 90 minutes (about 1 and a half hours) inside the museum, with an additional 60 minutes outside in our playground facilities.

 

General Admission and Group Visit Rules:

  • Group visits have a maximum of 15 minutes before or after their scheduled time.
  • We require one singular payment from the group's adult the day of. It can be a card, cash, or check. Please make sure if it is a check, it is the correct amount, as Hands-on House cannot refund partial payments.
  • We don’t offer indoor eating space for lunches. Outside eating spaces are first-come, first-serve unless you have opted for the picnic tables reservation. (Outdoor space is limited during summer hours due to summer camp.)
  • Children can make gift shop purchases during their visit! Please make sure children have enough funds to complete purchases including tax. Hands-on House cannot remove taxes from purchases if a child does not have enough funds.
  • If you choose to have group bathroom visits, please ask a staff member for assistance, as bathroom space is limited and shared with all visitors.
  • Hands-on House is not responsible for the supervision of children. Chaperones and adults are required to remain in the same space and watch over their children.
  • Please respect our space, toys, and staff by following the rules. No running, unsafe play (throwing toys, etc.), or excessive shouting is permitted. These rules help keep Hands-on House a safe and happy place for staff and visitors alike. Staff reserves the right to ask visitors who aren't adhering to the rules to leave.

     

Inquiring about a visit:

Inquiries must be made at least 2 weeks in advance of your desired visit date

Once your visit has been scheduled with our Director of Museum Experience, a deposit of $75 will be required to secure your visit date.  Deposit amounts will be deducted from your day-of admission payment.

"Double the Fun" Group Tours 

From June-August, double the field trip fun by visiting BOTH Hands-on House Children's Museum and Oregon Dairy Farm. Just 2 miles down the road from Hands-on House is Oregon Dairy Farmstead, a beautiful family dairy farm! 

Enjoy a tractor and wagon ride to the farm and through the barn, see where the cows are milked, visit the animals, and learn all about the importance of farming, with an added treat of ice cream and milk samples! Groups will eat lunch at Oregon Dairy to wrap up the visit, then travel a short distance down the road to Hands-on House, where they will get to explore museum exhibits that empower them to connect, create and learn through purposeful play! Exhibits include the Village, Farm, Playhouse and Park. 

Groups of 60 or less can enjoy this tour option at $17.00 per person, with 90 minutes at each location. Groups should plan to bring a packed lunch to enjoy at Oregon Dairy. One adult chaperone to every four students is required. 

9:30am-11am - Oregon Dairy Farmstead Tour

11am-12pm - Lunch at Oregon Dairy (lunch not provided)

12pm-12:15pm - Travel to Hands-on House

12:30pm-2pm - Explore Hands-on House
