Hands-on House Winter Camp 2024
Come join us for our third year of Winter Camp at Hands-on House Children’s Museum! Camp this year is by day—sign your camper up for just one day, a few, or all four!
Time: 9 am- 4 pm daily
Ages: Children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade
Price: $70 per day. A $5 per day discount is available for each day registered beyond the first. A limited number of scholarships are available for families receiving SNAP benefits or experiencing financial hardship. To apply for a scholarship, click here.

Camp Dates + Themes
Learn more about the themes that will inspire each day's activities
Thursday, December 26: The Word on Birds
Campers will learn about birds native to Lancaster County (ones they could find in their own backyard or park!) They will create biodegradable bird feeders and wearable bird wings to take home.
Friday, December 27: All about Nanobots
Campers will complete STEM challenges with robotic bug-like toys called Nanobots After designing a cardboard maze to test the bot they’ll receive a Nanobot to experiment with at home!
Monday, December 30: Make a Mobile
Campers will step into the role of engineer, exploring concepts like balance and gravity. They’ll get to sketch designs for a moving sculpture (a mobile) and from that sketch build a functional piece.
Tuesday, December 31: Amazing Architects
Campers will learn about skyscraper designs, build their own structure that can withstand a natural disaster, and create artwork based on the creations of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Winter Camp FAQs
Frequently asked questions about registration, camp activities, and what to bring.
How much are scholarships and how do I get one?
Scholarships are offered in a Tier system, which is as following:
- Tier 1 scholarship: for those who would find the price of camp very difficult to afford. Reduces the price of Winter Camp to $45 a day.
- Tier 2 scholarship: for those who cannot afford the price of camp without some amount of scholarship money. Reduces the price of Winter Camp to $30 a day.
- Tier 3: for those who cannot afford the price of camp without a significant amount of scholarship money. Reduces the price of Winter Camp to $20 a day.
Hands-on House is a non-profit that is offering scholarships without outside funding. We ask that applicants are honest with what they can afford so that we can offer scholarships to families who would otherwise be unable to send their kids to camp.

How do I register my child for camp?
Registration is done through our registration portal at this link. An account is required to register your camper; after clicking on the registration link, either log into your existing account, or make an account. After the account is made, follow the instructions in the portal to register.
What is the cancellation policy?
A $20 deposit is due for each day of camp upon registration, with the rest due at a later date. If a family would cancel their attendance, all but the deposit would be refunded. No refunds will be issued if cancelling registration one week before camp begins.
My child is 5 but isn’t in Kindergarten yet. Can they attend?
Kids must be in grades K-3rd to attend camp. Campers who are five but not yet in Kindergarten are not able to attend Winter Camp.
What should campers bring with them?
Snack is provided to campers each morning and afternoon. Campers should bring a packed lunch with them that does not require refrigeration. Additionally, campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their name and warm clothing. Campers will be going outside as weather permits, so please have campers dress accordingly.
